This all comes down to the definition of 'churn'.
In Dataro's modelling, a donor is considered to have churned when they have missed three consecutive monthly payments, not when their status is changed to terminated or inactive.
Whilst Dataro looks at the donor's status, we don't use this in the modelling process because often the status is not kept up to date. So, in short, any donor who is yet to miss three monthly payments, even if they have a 'terminated' status, will still receive a churn score.
Of course, you won't want to contact donors with a 'terminated' status as part of your retention campaign. We therefore recommend that all such donors be removed as a standard exclusion from all your retention campaign lists.
