Can I use scores instead of ranks for a direct mail appeal?

Yes! If you want to contact donors with a certain probability of giving, use the ‘Mail Appeal’ filter under the ‘Score’ sub-heading, rather than the ranking.

When using Scores, your operator should be “greater than or equal to” your desired probability, giving you all the donors with a probability better than your chosen level.

This differs from the operator you would use when using Rankings, where your operator would be “lower than or equal to” (i.e. Ranking 1 being the best / most-likely to give).

Pro Tip: For a direct mail appeal, Dataro normally recommends selecting donors with a score of greater than or equal to a 1% chance of giving (i.e. 1 in 100 donors with this score will give). We would normally not recommend mailing anyone with less than 0.5% DM Appeal score.
