Connect Dataro and Salesforce

It's time to set up your Dataro integration for Salesforce! Watch the video below to see exactly how to do it. 

Below are the four steps to integrate Salesforce with Dataro:

1. Once you log into your account at app.dataro.io, click on "Continue Setup" to get started.
2. Click on "Connect to Salesforce" which will direct you to log into your Salesforce instance as below.
   
   

Who can connect Dataro to Salesforce?

The person who connects Salesforce to Dataro does not need to be your full Salesforce System Administrator, but they do need a user account with a specific set of permissions. Whichever user completes the Connect to Salesforce step becomes the account Dataro uses for the connection, so it is worth setting this up deliberately.

The connecting user needs the following permissions in Salesforce:

• API Enabled, so Dataro can read and write data through the Salesforce API.
• View Setup and Configuration, so Dataro can read your field configurations and other setup metadata.
• Read access to the objects Dataro uses. This varies with your configuration, but generally includes Contact, Account, Opportunity, Opportunity Payment, Recurring Donation, Campaign, and Campaign Member.
• Write access to the Contact object, so Dataro can publish propensity scores back to your donor records.
• Permission to create custom fields on the Contact object, which Dataro uses to store those scores. Your Salesforce administrator can also create these fields manually if you prefer.

Note: Many organizations grant these permissions through a dedicated permission set and assign it to the user who connects the integration, rather than giving that person full administrator access.

Pro tip: Connect using a dedicated integration user rather than a personal login. If a personal account is later deactivated, the Salesforce connection stops working and needs to be reconnected.

1. Once you've connect, you'll be sent back to the Dataro App to continue. You'll need to confirm a few things for us, such as the field used for "Gender" and "Payment Method". 
   
   
   
   
2. You are now connected to Dataro! It's time to proceed to campaign tagging.
