Data Upload integration

Dataro's drag-and-drop Data Upload tool enables all nonprofit organizations, regardless of their CRM, to harness the power of their donor data through Dataro’s AI-driven fundraising predictions.

With our drag-and-drop Data Upload, you can easily upload your donor data, customize the update schedule to fit your organization's needs, and begin utilizing AI-driven predictions even if your CRM is not currently integrated with Dataro.

Steps to Upload Data

Follow these steps to upload your data using the Drag and Drop Data Upload tool:

1. Prepare Your Data

Ensure your data files are ready for upload.

We'll need the data sorted into the following files with all historical data available:

  • Contacts: List of all contacts in your database. See sample file here
  • Revenue: List of all transactions (donations), matched to specific contacts, commitments, and campaigns. See sample file here
  • Campaigns: List of all previously run campaigns. See sample file here
  • Commitments: List of all recurring donations, matched to a specific contact campaign members - list of all contacts that were in previously run campaigns, matched to contacts and campaign IDs. See sample file here
  • Campaign Members: List of all communications with your contacts, matched to contacts and campaign IDs. See sample file here

Each file should follow the schema provided in our sample files. Ensure that the right columns/values are available to be matched across tables.

The full reference schema can be accessed here. Column D "Required" shows fields that are mandatory in order to provide predictions, Column E "Nullable" shows fields that would be ideal to have but not mandatory.

📊 Campaign Results functionality in your Dataro account relies on "Campaign Members" so it's important to include this information if possible.

2. Drag and Drop Your Files

  1. Log into the Dataro Platform.
  2. Navigate to the "Data Hub" and select "Drag and Drop". You can access a sample file by clicking on each field type, you will also see the which attributes are needed (tagged as "Required") as well as optional (tagged as "Nullable") with the format needed.
  3. Click on "Create New Dataset"  and select "Upload files" to upload the individual data sets.

3. Tag and Validate Your Data

After uploading, tag each file accordingly and validate the data to ensure it matches our schema. Correct any errors that may appear during the validation process. Your Customer Success Manager is here to support you so please reach out if you get stuck or reach out to support@dataro.io.

4. Maintain Your Data

We recommend you keep your data up to date by regularly uploading new data files, especially before running campaign analysis and ahead of preparing for new fundraising activity.

Please ensure that you upload new data at least one week before your data pull is required.

💡 Save your base 5 spreadsheets in a secure location, and top these sheets up with the new data from the date of your last extraction onwards, this way you wont need to run a full export from your CRM every time, as this can sometimes be a lengthy process.

How to Download Your Data and Predictions

Once your data is processed, you'll receive a notification that your AI-driven predictions are ready to downloaded. This typically takes up to 24 hours.

  1. To use the ranks and scores within your CRM, you'll need to create specific fields in your CRM to store the predictions, ideally on the contact record. For example, you can create fields like ‘Dataro DM Appeal Rank’ and ‘Dataro DM Appeal Score’ to hold these predictions after they've been imported.
  2. Next you'll want to log into the Dataro Platform to access your predictions.
  3. Navigate to the "Donors and Segments" and select "List Builder".
  4. Select the filter you are interested in (e.g., DM Appeal, RG Churn).
  5. Select the columns to export. Please make sure that you include both "Contact ID" and "Contact ID (external)" which will allow you to match the data back to your CRM's donor IDs.
  6. Click the "Export" button to export the predictions to a CSV file.
  7. From here, you can import the predictions into your CRM or into your campaign files to to inform your fundraising strategies and improve campaign outcomes. See sample file here
  8. If you're not able to create fields in your CRM to import the values in. You can use the ranks and scores offline in a spreadsheet!
