The Five Model-Based Insights

Knowing which model sits behind each insight card tells you what it predicts and which donors it covers.

Model-based insights are the cohort-level cards in Act on Insights. Five of them appear in Dataro 3.0, and each one is powered by a predictive model with a specific, measurable prediction behind it.

The short version

Each of the five cards is a plain-language wrapper around one of Dataro's propensity models. "20 recurring donors are at risk of churning" is the RG Churn model. "15 donors are ready to give a mid-level gift" is the Mid-Level model. The models predict a specific action inside a specific window, and each one only scores the donors who are eligible for that action in the first place.

The five cards and the model behind each
Insight card Model What the card is telling you
Next gift DM Appeal These donors are the most likely to respond to your next one-off ask
Churn risk RG Churn These recurring donors look likely to stop, so intervene before they do
Recurring giving conversion Convert to RG These one-off donors are ready to be asked for a regular commitment
Mid-level opportunity Mid-Level These donors are ready to give inside the mid band you have configured
Major gift opportunity Major Giving These donors have the capacity and affinity to give above your major threshold

Frequently asked questions

Why is a donor I would definitely ask for a monthly gift missing from the conversion card?

Check their recurring history. Convert to RG only scores donors with no recurring giving history at all. A donor who gave monthly years ago and stopped is handled by RG Reactivation instead, not by conversion.

Are these the same models I use in Audiences and Predictions?

Yes. The insight cards surface the same models, with the same scores and ranks you work with everywhere else in Dataro. Nothing about your predictions changes because a card appeared.

What counts as a mid-level or major gift for me?

Your own configured thresholds. The defaults are $500 to $4,999 for the mid band and $5,000 and above for major, and organizations with larger programs often set the major threshold at $10,000. Both models predict against your thresholds, not a sector average.

Why does RG Upgrade cover so few of my recurring donors?

RG Upgrade only scores donors with a recurring contribution in the last 90 days and no recent payment failures, so anyone mid-failure or already paused drops out. That is deliberate, because an upgrade ask to a donor whose payment has just failed is poorly timed.

The model names here do not match what I see in my CRM. Which is right?

Model naming is being aligned so that Dataro, your CRM fields, and our documentation all use the same names. See Model names across the platform and your CRM.
