To access the template reports included with Dataro, scroll down to find ready-to-go reports on:

  • Management

  • Single giving
  • Appeals

  • Major giving
  • Major giving program summary

Each report provides easily accessible data visualizations to help you understand the health and trajectory of the program.

In each report, clicking into the Description and Tips tab will give you an idea of the type of questions you will be able to answer with this report. The About tab provides definitions for the selected report.

Creating & Customizing reports

To create a new saved report, you'll need to start by customizing an existing template. From the Reports page, select the type of report that you want to create (recurring giving, appeals, etc.). Then customize it to your liking, and save, following the instructions below.

Changing the subject of a report

On the left side of the screen, you have the ability to toggle between different views and analyses of the data in the Reports menu. Switching between different report views allows you to quickly generate different data visualizations in order to highlight changes over time, breakdowns of donor demographics and behavior, acquisition and retention patterns, and more.

Changing the data in a report

On the right side of the screen, the Filters tab allows you to control the data used in the report. From the Filters tab you can easily adjust the data that is shown in your report, including changing the period of time evaluated, the metric being analyzed (including number of donors, number of gifts, total revenue value, etc.), and the time period comparison (year-over-year, etc.).

Viewing nonprofit benchmark data in reports

Dataro reporting offers the opportunity to view live benchmark data, comparing your organization’s performance with other nonprofits to help you contextualize and better understand your own data. For instance, if you had a lower or higher performing quarter than you had previously projected, it can be helpful to know if this was unique to your organization, or a phenomenon that affected many nonprofits.

To include and adjust the benchmark data in your reports, scroll to the bottom of the Filters tab, where you will see the Benchmark toggle option. You may choose to benchmark your data against all organizations, organizations based in your country, organizations who work in a similar cause area, and organizations of similar sizes (compared by either total annual revenue, or number of donors).

Changing your organization’s cause area for benchmarking

To change the cause area that Dataro associates with your organization for benchmarking, navigate to Accounts and Settings > Account Details and edit the Organization Cause field.

Understanding the data in your reports

The About tab on the right side of your screen contains definitions of the data terms used in reports, so that you can easily understand exactly what a report means, and what data is being used for comparison.

Saving and sharing reports

When you are happy with the customizations you have made to your report, you have multiple options for saving and sharing the report with your colleagues.

  • At the top of the screen, select the Save option to save the report inside of Dataro, so that you and other users can access it at any time.
  • Select the Download option to save a PDF, download a PNG file that can easily be added to documents or presentations, or download the data used in the report for further analysis.
  • Select the Share option to email a colleague a link to access the report directly in Dataro, or simply copy the sharing link.

Adding your report to a dashboard

After you've saved your report, open the dashboard that you would like to add to, select Add Report button, and select your saved report from the list.
