There may be non-financial reasons for sending a larger direct mail appeal, such as engaging donors and maintaining your nonprofit's brand. Consider Dataro's Campaign Suggestions as simply one piece of advice to consider when planning your campaign, optimized for ROI. If your campaign’s goal is ROI, then you should follow Dataro's estimate. If you have other motivations and are comfortable sacrificing ROI, then you can certainly go with a larger campaign. Simply increase the maximum rank in your selection to choose the next most likely donors.  Almost every organization that we work with has historically run campaigns that are soliciting large numbers of donors (20-50%) who will, quite predictably, not donate. In these situations, Dataro's Campaign Suggestions imply a very large departure from historical campaigns.  Our advice in these situations is to reduce your campaign size. However, if you’re not comfortable reducing it to the extent the tool suggests, then go with a 20-30% reduction and observe the results of the campaign.
