What refreshes and when
Knowing the refresh cadence tells you when to expect new insights and why the numbers on them move.
Dataro's underlying dataset refreshes once a week, and the insights on your homepage refresh daily across a five-day work week. Something new is waiting most weekdays, and the numbers on an insight can change from one week to the next as donors qualify and drop out.
How the cadence works- Data pulls weekly. The Dataro dataset, including your predictions, is refreshed once a week, and everything else runs off that weekly refresh.
- Insights refresh daily across a five-day work week, so you will see something new when you log in on each weekday.
- Volume runs from one to five insights a day. The engine is tuned so that every organization sees something meaningful each weekday, including smaller organizations with lighter data files.
Frequently asked questions
Could I ever open Dataro and see no insights?
That is not the intended behavior. The volume is tuned to deliver at least one insight per day even for smaller organizations. If you see an empty Act on Insights tab, that is worth raising with your CSM.
What if I miss a day, or a week?
You do not lose the underlying donors. They remain in your file, they are still scored, and you can still reach them through Audiences. What changes is the number printed on the surfaced insight, because donors move between tiers from one week to the next.
For example, this week's insight might read "15 donors are ready to give a mid-level gift," and next week the same insight might read 20. The number moved because some donors qualified and others dropped out as new data came in, not because you missed anything in between.
Looking back at insight movement over time is planned, so you will be able to see exactly who was added and who dropped. For now, we recommend treating an insight as a current read on your file rather than a fixed list.
Does an insight expire if I ignore it?
The insight card is a daily surfacing, so it will not sit there indefinitely, but the donors behind it remain in your file. You can always rebuild the same group through Audiences using the same criteria. In the future, all historic insights will be retrievable.
Does the refresh change my ranks and scores?
Nothing in the refresh cadence changes how a rank or a score is calculated. The definitions are:
- A score is a raw value from 0.0 to 1.0 approximating the probability that a donor takes a given action.
- A rank is the number of contacts with a higher score, plus one. Rank 1 is the donor most likely to act.
